Dataflow Add Location Using Nearby Space

The Add Location Using Nearby Space dataflow detects nearby or contained objects relative to selected space objects, and copies a selected space property value to those objects as 04_Connected space in the Simplebim property set. The dataflow also automatically generates groups for the connected objects.

This dataflow provides an easy way to add highly precise location information to objects — even at the room level. Existing space objects in an architectural IFC model can be used as locations, and the target objects can come from the same model or from another model, such as a merged MEP model.

Step Name

The name of the dataflow step. A dynamic name is automatically generated based on the configuration, but you can also overwrite it manually.

Detect from Spaces

The space objects from which nearby and contained objects are detected. The selection can be made using Object Class (Space), Object Selection, or Object Group.

Look for Objects

The objects that are searched for near or inside the selected spaces. The selection can be based on Object Class, Object Class List, Object Selection, or Object Group. A predefined Object Class List including typical object classes for this purpose is provided by default.

Find Nearby Objects

Direction for Search

The direction in which nearby objects are searched relative to the selected spaces. Options include Any Direction, Directly Above, Directly Below, On the Side, or On the Side at the Same Level.

Tolerance for the Nearby Objects

The distance tolerance used to detect nearby objects outside the space boundaries. This setting defines how far from the space object boundaries the target objects are searched.

Copy Value From Space to Objects

04_Connected space

The name of the space property whose value is copied to the connected objects as 04_Connected space in the Simplebim property set.

Group Objects by Nearby Space

Unique Parent Group Name

The unique parent group name for automatically generated groups.
