The Add Location Using Nearby Space dataflow creates connections between selected space objects and nearby or contained objects, and copies the generated Space identity property value to those objects under the property name Connected space.
This dataflow provides an easy way to add highly precise location information to objects — even at the room level. Existing space objects in an architectural IFC model can be used as locations, and the target objects can come from the same model or from another model, such as a merged MEP model.
Settings

Image 2: Settings for copying a combination of two space property values to objects.
Image 3: End result - the new 01_Space identity property of space objects copied as 04_Connected space property for all connected objects.
Image 4: End result - automatically generated groups of connected objects based on space identity.
Step Name
The name of the dataflow step. The step name can be edited manually.
Detect from Spaces
The selected space objects for which related objects will be detected. The selection can be made using Object Class (Space), Object Selection, or, as shown in this example, Object Group.
Look for Objects
The selected objects from which inside and nearby objects will be detected. The selection can be based on Object Class, Object Class List, Object Selection, or Object Group. A predefined Object Class List including the typical object classes for this purpose is provided by default.
Find Nearby Objects
Direction for Search
Defines the direction in which nearby objects are searched. This setting controls how the search is performed relative to the selected spaces. The direction can be selected from a dropdown list: Any Direction, Directly Above, Directly Below, On the Side, or On the Side at the Same Level.
Tolerance for the Nearby Objects
Specifies the tolerance distance for detecting nearby objects in the selected direction. This setting defines how far outside the space object boundaries the target objects are searched.
Copy Values From Space to Objects
Copy First Value From
The name of the space property whose value is used as the space identity. The value is copied to the 01_Space identity property (identity series) in the Simplebim property set for the selected space objects.
The Space identity value is then copied to the 04_Connected space property (location series) in the Simplebim property set, which is automatically created for all connected objects.
At least one property must be copied to the objects. This is a mandatory field.
Combine with Property (Optional)
Combining two properties to create a space identity value is an optional feature. The 01_Space identity property can consist of a combination of two space property values to create a more accurate space identity.
Copy Second Value From
The name of the second space property whose value is combined with the first one to form the space identity. The combined value is copied to the 01_Space identity property (identity series) in the Simplebim property set for the selected space objects.
The resulting Space identity value is then copied to the 04_Connected space property (location series) in the Simplebim property set, which is automatically created for all connected objects.
Separator
Specifies the separator used between the combined property values. The separator can be selected from a standard dropdown list.
Group Objects by Nearby Space
Unique Parent Group Name
The unique parent group name for automatically generated groups.
