Maria Lennox & "Simplebim Base Model": a Sneak Peek. TARCON Day • 23 April 2026 • TALLINN, Estonia Completed

Annalisa Quaglietta

TARCON Day is back! From the Simplebim Team, Maria Lennox will present:

"Simplebim Base Model - the best way to find, understand, and organize IFC data"

The Base Model brings to life the idea of automatically standardising BIM model data - laying the foundation for the different types of enrichment we need to solve our use cases.

"The Base Model is gonna change your way of working with IFC models"

(Maria Lennox, Head of BIM Data Product Development at Datacubist Oy)

Event hosts and Community members Taavi Liiv and the whole TARCON Team promise it will be "more exciting than ever".

Don't miss it!

That was a great event at Tarcon Day! Maria's presentation was one of the highlights and sparked a lot of curiosity and quite a few “aha” moments among participants! Let's discover more here.

First of all: Thank you to the Tarcon team: this fully booked Tarcon-Day was again energizing!

For those who don't know: Tarcon yearly organizes an event day dedicated to digital construction, smart and automated workflows, and practical ways to make daily work less frustrating, more efficient, more reliable, and reusable. Exactly the kind of environment where new ideas belong!

We were there again this year! Maria Lennox, Head of BIM Data Product Development at Datacubist Oy, gave a sneak peek into the “Base Model” that will be introduced in Simplebim 12.

A quick reminder: where Simplebim sits in the BIM ecosystem

In the construction industry, BIM workflows roughly look like this:

    •    Upstream: architects, engineers, and modellers create IFC model

    •    Downstream: construction companies, planners, cost estimators, logistics teams, site teams, facility management, and many others need to use that data.

Simplebim’s role has always been very clear: to focus on processing IFC model data, so that BIM models can actually work smoothly in downstream systems and tools.

In other words: Simplebim does not replace authoring tools, it makes their outputs usable at scale for the rest of the industry.

    The challenge we all know

Even when an IFC model is available, downstream work often starts with the same questions:

    •    Where is the information I need?
    •    Once I find it, what does it actually mean in this project?
    •    How can I enrich the model so it matches my use case?

Because models vary by discipline, software, modelling habits, naming conventions, and project history.

Finding the right objects reliably and repeatedly is often the hardest part of BIM data work - not the actions themselves.

The Simplebim “Base Model”: a new foundation for BIM data work

The Base Model introduces a standardized foundation that makes BIM data:

    •    easy to find
    •    easy to understand
    •    and easy to enrich, depending on the use case

The result: when structure and values are standardized, enrichments become standardized as well - and can simply be plugged in, reused, and scaled.

    “Base Model” and “Cloud”

The Base Model will come combined with Simplebim Cloud: the Dataflows carefully prepared by a few BIM experts can be run centrally, allowing whole project teams simply benefit from consistent, ready to use models.

This will enable a fully automated Data processing - while saving time, costs, and resources to construction companies and consulting offices.

To put the whole with Maria's words:

“Now let’s have fun with this model!”

    -----------

More details, examples, sneak peeks about Simplebim 12, the Base Model, and the Cloud will be shared later this year.

Stay tuned, and share your thoughts with the Community!

    👏👏👏😊
