The Netherlands & Belgium, Simplebim-Reseller BBBDC, Gerard
With nearly 10 years of hands-on experience, I support BIM professionals in the Netherlands in getting real value out of Simplebim.
What started as admiration for IFC editing capabilities quickly evolved into a deep appreciation for what Simplebim truly stands for: dataflow. Today, I help clients structure, enrich and validate IFC models so BIM data becomes reliable, reusable and meaningful throughout the entire lifecycle—from design to asset management.
I strongly believe Simplebim is the Swiss Army knife for BIM coordinators, and I enjoy sharing knowledge, templates and best practices within the Simplebim Community.
It was back in 1984 when i met for the first time a computer who was able to generate a 3D-table for me making an architectural designmodel with curved walls. Some years later it was Minicad, after that Autocad, and then in 1991 i produced the first 3D-model, and from that moment i was continously learning of what was possible. I tried latest versions of all kinds of CAD-software. Then in 2004 i started to work with Revit, untill then still not aware of data, only the 3D-thing i was interested in. 2012 was the year bbbdc got started, and from day one we had only big projects to do the bim-coördination for. Data got important, but also i understood IFC is very important, just like the old days i knew DXF could be used to exchange your things in various CAD-applications. I first edited IFC with TXT-editor😊, because i couldn't find any well-working solutions on the internet. Once i met Simplebim round 2013, my life became better, i started to work with, and later on even was giving Simplebim-trainings in the Netherlands.
Nowadays i see the many people in the field of AEC are talking about requirements for Data, IDS of BuildingSmart, all cool things. But in our practice i see all kinds of BIM-models, with all kinds of irregularities in data. Always we have to adjust or solve problems to work with data in models. With Simplebim we manage this, make smart templates and since this summer we use the Dataflow, to get rid of all the stuff we don't need, and slowly grow into healthy consistant dataflows, where evere property, every propertyvalue is organised in the same way…and that brings me to the near future for the Netherlands and Belgium; we 're just getting started to get richer dataflows from beginning to end with all thanks to Simplebim😊
I end my introduction with the positive message that for me the Simplebim-team (Datacubist) is a warm inspiring group of people, they always will help you on the way to consistent data and dataflows. And from the Netherlands we ll do the same👍.

Thank you for the introduction Gerard, it is great to have partners with such deep background knowledge! I often say that people first have to hit their head against the wall a few times before they can truly understand the value of Simplebim. For us old-timers it has been a long road, but hopefully we can make things much easier (and less painful) for the younger generations :-)
