The 01_Base Model Standard dataflow is the first step to start using the Base Model concept. It adds a standard data structure to the model by creating the Simplebim property set and standard 01-series property names. Values from the original property sets are mapped to these standard properties, while the original data remains untouched. If a requested value cannot be found for a specific object class, such as handedness for doors or fire rating for walls, a default value of (-) is added. This placeholder highlights missing information so it can be addressed later. The mapping can be further customized by adding standardization rules with the Dataflow 01_Base Model Standard Fix.
Base Model standardization makes it easy to find and use model data consistently across different object classes, IFC models, or projects. The 01_Base Model Standard Kit also creates a solid foundation for the next step in the Base Model concept: the 02_Base Model Enrich Kit.
Settings
Image: The Base Model Standard Kit includes three discipline-specific steps, one for each discipline: architectural, structural, and MEP models.
Image 1: Base Model standardized data structure for a wall in an architectural model. The 01_Discipline value is set by the user, while all other property values are copied from the original model. Notice that the storey information is copied to the 04_Storey property (the Base Model 04-series is for location information).
Image 2: Base Model standardized data structure for an element assembly (left) and for a part object inside the assembly (right) in a structural model. 01_Base Model Standard STR dataflow automatically copies a default selection of assembly-level properties to the part objects within the parent assembly.
Step Name
The name of the dataflow step. A dynamic name is automatically generated based on the configuration, but you can also overwrite it manually.
Add Standard Base Model Properties with Default Values to All Objects
This dataflow has a fixed target All.
01_Discipline
The text added to all objects in the model as the 01_Discipline property in the Simplebim property set. This is especially useful when combining multiple models and selecting them by discipline. Default values are provided for each discipline, but the value can be edited manually.
Modeled with
The original modeling tool used to select the default standardization rules for mapping 01-property values. For architectural models, the options are Archicad and Revit. For structural models, the option is Tekla. For MEP models, the option is Magicad. Selecting the original modeling tool only affects how well the default rules for standard mapping work; the dataflow can still be used with IFC models from other tools as long as the correct discipline is selected.
