The Save to Multiple IFC Files dataflow enables users to split the model into multiple IFC files. Each file will contain only objects that share a specific property value—such as building storey, layer assignment, or any other text property. Files are named automatically, and users can define a common prefix for them. Users can also choose from two predefined export modes and optionally include source model information in the objects.

This dataflow can be used if multiple IFC files needs to created.

Settings

Step Name

The name of the dataflow step. A dynamic name will be automatically generated based on the configuration, but you can also overwrite it manually.

Export By

Select either one of the commonly used properties or define a custom property.

Property Name

The name of the property used in the export. Visible only if Custom Property is selected in Export By setting.

Folder Path

The path for the folder where resulting IFC files will saved.

File Name Prefix

The prefix used in the file name. File name's format is '<file name prefix> - <property value>'.

File Type

Select either IFC or IFC Zip file.

Export Mode

Predefined export settings that affect the interoperability and size of the resulting IFC file. It is recommended to use Safe Mode only if you encounter problems importing the resulting file into another application. This mode writes object geometry in a format (i.e., BREP) that all IFC-enabled applications should support, but the downside is that the model size increases significantly.

Add Model Information

The option adds the source model name and timestamp information to all objects. This information can be used in the merged model to identify objects originating from different source models.
