Dataflow Derive Surface Objects for Space Floor

The Derive Surface Objects for Space Floor dataflow creates thin 3D floor surface objects (Covering) that cover the areas where selected space and floor objects touch, overlap, or share a common surface. A name property value can be assigned to the derived floor surface objects, and selected property values from the related space and floor objects can be copied to them. The net area value is automatically calculated for all derived floor surface objects.

This dataflow provides an easy way to generate distinct floor surface objects, for example, to represent different materials in various rooms and areas.

Settings

Image: Settings and end result – Floor surfaces representing carpet finishes added to the living room floor. An automatically generated group contains all derived floor surface objects, with automatically enriched identity and quantity properties.

Step Name

The name of the dataflow step. A dynamic name will be automatically generated based on the configuration, but you can also overwrite it manually.

Space Objects

The selected space objects that define where the floor surface objects will be derived. It is recommended to select actual room objects rather than gross areas or other space objects modeled for regulatory purposes.

Floor Objects

The selected floor objects that define the base surfaces from which the floor surface objects will be derived. The derived floor surfaces are created separately for each floor object, even if multiple floor objects exist within the same space (room) area.

Surface Object Properties

Related Space

The name of the space property whose value is copied to the floor surface object as 01_Related space in the Simplebim property set.

Related Floor

The name of the floor object property whose value is copied to the floor surface object as 01_Related floor in the Simplebim property set. This identity value makes it easy to identify the floor structure beneath each floor surface object, especially when multiple floor types exist within the same space.

Surface Object Settings

Floor Surface Name

The name assigned to the derived floor surface objects. The value is set to 01_Name-Type in the Simplebim property set.

Surface Color

The color of the derived floor surface objects. The default color is light yellow, but it can be customized.
