The Add Elevation Information to Objects dataflow calculates four types of elevation information and assigns the values to standard properties within a Simplebim property set. The elevation information can be added to all objects or only to selected objects, depending on the chosen target.

The idea is to make it possible to enrich any IFC model with standard, geometry-based elevation information to improve usability.

Settings

Step Name

The name of the dataflow step. The step name can be edited manually.

Target Objects

The objects the elevation properties will be added to. If the target is an object selection or object group, the new property will be added to all object classes for which the target has objects. However, the Value (see below) will be set only for the objects in the target. The default value for the target is All.

Property Set

The new properties are added in a standardized Simplebim property set.

Properties

This dataflow calculates four types of elevation information and automatically adds standard properties for them. The property names are: 04_Elevation top, 04_Elevation bottom, 04_Elevation gravity center, and 04_Elevation to storey.

Values

The elevation values are calculated based on object’s geometry and location. The added elevation value type is IfcLengthMeasure. The unit is defined by the IFC model settings. More detailed information of elevation calculations can be found here: Add Elevation Information
