Calculate or Aggregate Properties for Connected Objects

Calculates and aggregates new properties for building element objects that are connected together. The connection can be created, for example, with the Find Proximity Objects tool. The formula can use constants, building elements’ own properties, or even properties from the connected objects.

Settings

There are four different tools for calculating and aggregating properties. They all share common settings, which you can find in the Calculate Properties for Objects tool's documentation.

Aggregate Properties for Containers also shares settings with the Aggregate Properties for Groups tool. From this documentation, you can also find some helpful examples of how to use formulas for aggregation.

Here are the settings specific to the Calculate or Aggregate Properties for Connected Objects tool.

Calculation Type

There are two options here.

Calculate Properties for Connected Objects

Calculate Properties for Connected Objects sets the values to the building elements referenced by the Connection Property.

Aggregate Properties for Objects

Use this option to aggregate values to the object from the connected objects.

Aggregation type

In addition to other aggregation types, this tool also has Has Objects option. Has Objects calculates a Yes/No (boolean) value to the parent based on the formula. If one or more objects referenced by the Connection Property meet the requirement set by the formula, then this operation returns Yes (true). An empty formula checks if the connection references any building elements.

Connecting Property

Connecting Property is used in the Calculate Properties for Connected Objects. This defines the connection (reference) property that the tool should follow when doing its calculations. If you use, for example, the Find Proximity Objects tool for creating the connection, then the Connection Property should match the name you used for the Connection Property in the Proximity tool.
