This tool scans the model for objects that are located far away from the main model and automatically excludes these objects.
This is useful when the model has objects that are so far away that when the 3D window is zoomed to the whole model, nothing will show in the 3D window because all objects are smaller than one pixel. Usually, this is because of a modeling issue or IFC export issue in the model author tool. That doesn't mean that the rest of the model would not be good.
Once the objects are found, you can, for example, exclude them. This puts them in the Excluded 3D bucket, and because each bucket is zoomed separately, the main model becomes visible. The faraway objects also become visible, and you can see what they are.
If the far-away objects are needed in the IFC export, you must include them back before exporting.
Settings
Objects
Select Object Class, Group, Group Category, Top Most, or Part-level objects. The faraway objects are found among these objects. You can use the special option All to apply the tool to the whole model.
Maximum Distance between Objects
The tool creates a cluster of objects based on their geometric distances. The main cluster will have most of the objects. Maximum Distance between Objects defines how far the objects need to be from each other before they are considered to be faraway objects.
Create Group
Turn on Create Group if you want to create a group for the duplicate objects. The groups can be either a generic group or an IFC group. A generic group can only be used inside Simplebim. IFC groups are exported to IFC.
Only the duplicates are assigned to the group if they are found. In other words, one of the duplicates is not assigned to the group.
Groups are a convenient way to find duplicate objects from the model, but you could also feed the group to other tools to further process the objects. For example, if you want to exclude them with the Include/Exclude Objects tool.
Group Name
Group Name defines the group to which the duplicate objects are assigned. If you use a group name that already exists in the model (under the parent group defined below), then the objects are added to this group. If the group doesn't exist yet, then a new one is created.
Parent Group
Groups can be hierarchical. Use Parent Group if you want to assign the groups under a specific parent group.

Hello Sakari,
Thank you. I have a question that might be related to this topic. I once imported my model and could see it in the 3D window, but after splitting it using the Location Editor, the result was no longer visible. What could cause this? I don’t think it was due to objects being far away, since the original model was visible at first. Perhaps the model became too complex after the split. Have you seen this before? I should mention this happened in version 10.
